200 pairs of exclusive Louis Vuitton and Nike ‘Air Force 1’ sneakers, created by Virgil Abloh, will be auctioned off by Sotheby’s to raise funds for the late designer’s scholarship fund.

The special-edition sneakers are made out of calf leather and cowhide piping, adorned with Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram, as per Barron’s. They bear Abloh’s famed quotation mark motifs, and are available in men’s sizes 5 to 18.

The sale will take place online from January 26 to February 9, and will be the first time the sneakers—which were designed for Spring/Summer 2022—have been released to the public. Each pair will start at US$2,000.

Abloh had been involved with the planning of the auction in its early stages, and will now be carried out in partnership with his family. According to WWD, proceeds from the sale will go towards the artistic director’s “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund, providing educational opportunities to students of African descent.

Each pair of sneakers will come together with a Louis Vuitton orange leather case, embossed with the brand’s motif.

In addition to the limited-edition sneakers going up for auction, Abloh designed other Nike ‘Air Force 1’ sneakers for the upcoming Louis Vuitton show.

The brand has said that it plans to exhibit all of the designs, with more details to be given at a later date.
